Dangote Refinery Guts Fire, Casualty Unknown
Nigeria’s giant crude refining company, Dangote Refinery reportedly guts fire in the afternoon of Wednesday 26th of June.
The refinery, situated on hectares of lands in the Lekki Free Zone near Lagos, harbours plants converting crude into kerosene, petroleum, diesel and other chemical products.
According to SaharaReporters, the cause of the inferno which is currently raging could not be immediately ascertained.
A video of the fire incident shared on several social media platforms, seen by the news outlet showed a thick dark smoke rising from what appears as one of the tank storages in the facility.
Dangote Oil Refinery which kicked off by first refining diesel, is a 650,000 barrels per day (BPD) integrated refinery project.
Inaugurated in May 2023, the refinery is owned by Dangote Group.
