The second annual Power Play Awards recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of remarkable women and the men who uphold the importance of supporting and empowering them in the workplace. These individuals demonstrate how a mutually supportive environment can help support great business outcomes across all parts of the liquified natural gas (LNG) and energy industries value chain.

The key objectives behind these awards are to shine a light on the newcomers and smaller players in the LNG value chain, in particular, encouraging nominations from resource holders, buyers and partners. Alll players in the oil and gas business are invited to submit nominations for these awards which are open till 19th of June, 2020.

The three categories for the 2020 Power Play Awards include:

The Rising Star – presented to an outstanding female professional, age 35 or younger.

The Rising Star Award celebrates one woman, 35 or younger, who is excelling early in her LNG career. Known by peers and mentors as part of the next generation of LNG leadership, she’s someone to watch.

The Vanguard – given to a male or female professional who displays outstanding leadership.

The Vanguard Award honors a woman or man who through their words, actions and positive energy, inspires those who work with and around them. The Rainmaker – awarded to a female professional who has delivered exceptional value and business results.

The Rainmaker Award honors a woman who has delivered outstanding business results, showcasing the value women bring to the LNG value chain. Colleagues might note her unrelenting positive energy or unique ability to advance a business goal, but she likely describes herself as someone who thrives on success. Qualifying events may include, for example, the close of large deal, launch into a new country, a new installation, a cost-saving initiative or an innovative commercial deal.

Finalists will be named and notified in late July and winners will be announced in September 2020.

Judges for 2020 Awards include Madame Jin Shuping (Vice President, CNOOC Gas & Power Group), Julie Mayo, Jocelyne Machevo, and Dena Wiggins (President and CEO of Natural Gas Supply Association), among other prominent actors in the oil and gas sector.

Winners of the inaugural Power Play Awards were announced and awarded during the Gastech Exhibition and Conference on September 18, 2019, which held in Houston, USA, with over 35,000 upstream, midstream and downstream professionals in attendance.

The winners were selected through a two-part process. First, an impartial panel of seven international experts across the LNG Value Chain evaluated the nominations, out of which four finalists were selected for each category. The second part of the evaluation process included a period for community voting. These votes were tallied and made up a portion of the overall scores for each finalist. The individuals with the highest scores once the community voting period had ended were selected as the winners.

Power Play Awards organizer, ExxonMobil, is one of the world's largest publicly traded international oil and gas companies.
