Maikantu Baru, The General Managing Director of NNPC has announced Nigerian Gas Processing and Transportation Company (NGPTC) as a subsidiary of NNPC. The GMD also functions as the AGM of NGPTC.
In his words, he believes NGPTC is competent enough to deliver the 614km Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline project. This project is to be undertaken by a third party constructor financing and construction model with almost $3bn of foreign direct investment. Also included is the OB3 pipelines project that will commence operation later in the year.
He significantly noted the performance of the management of NGPTC and commended them for recording profit after the N6.11b in its first year. According to the NNPC GMD, the management of NNPC is confident of a bright future for NGPTC and their ability to break through despite the challenges of vandalism and condensate evacuation.
Engr. Saidu Mohammed, the Chief Operating Officer Gas and Power and Chairman of the NGPTC Board, opined as well that the NGPTC was focused on capitalising on its strength and grow to bigger levels, noting that by 2019 the company would have recorded a quantum leap into the big league with most of its ongoing gas infrastructure projects fully materialized.
Also commenting is Mr. Babatunde Bakare, Managing Director of the Company, he said the 2017 AGM result mirrors the corporation’s resolve to align with the prime objective of the Federal Government to harness the nation’s gas resources for the overall benefit of the Nigerian economy.
