DPR TO CLOSE ILLEGAL GAS PLANTS

Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR, has cautioned against the indiscriminate location of gas plant in Delta State, noting that its monitoring team were all over the state to discourage unlawful operation of gas plant.

While speaking with reporters in Warri, at the end of the year’s Warri zonal office of DPR/LPG stakeholders forum, tagged: “Maximising profit through safe operation compliance in gas business”, the Warri Zonal Director, DPR, Mr Asukwo Antai encouraged all stakeholders to work together for safety of the gas business.

He also implored the Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) operators, to adhere to the rules and regulations of the gas industry, stating that they should implement Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) in their gas plants.

He noted that some operators of illegal gas plants have been detained in Warri and its environs, urging stakeholders to summon the DPR when they perceive people selling gas from residential homes or supplying directly from the truck.

He emphasized that the meeting between DRP and LPG operators was to inform those in the industry on the safety in operations and compliance to rules and regulations. This he said will step up domestic gas utilization in the country.
