Oil workers under the shade of Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) have expressed determination to ensure that local content law is duly implemented in the oil and gas sector.

During a recent visit by the oil workers to the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, the National President of PENGASSAN, Francis Johnson, commended the Board for its tremendous efforts towards developing the oil and gas sector by encouraging indigenous participation.

Johnson said the impact of the Board is so relevant that they have learned so much about its laudable interventions. He also added that they are committed to work with the NCDMB at all time.

Speaking as well at the session on the structure and operation of the Board, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, Engr. Simbi Wabote called on the union to let their members know that the Board awards contracts in the oil sector.

Wabote said the Board is mandated to review, assess and approve Nigerian Content Plans developed by operators, and that they issue certificate of authorisation for projects that comply with Nigerian Content provisions.
