Seven suspects have been arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Calabar, Cross River over allegedly illegal oil bunkering and adulteration of crude oil valued at N10 million.

This was disclosed by Stephen Lar, Commandant of NSCDC in the state, while speaking with newsmen on Wednesday in Calabar South.

He said that the command does not allow any unlawful activities as regard crude oil in the region, and added that the suspects will be made to face the wrath of the law as soon as investigation is completed.

“In keeping with our core mandate of protecting Nigeria’s critical national asset, particularly the oil sector; we carried out an operation early this morning following a tip-off.

“This channel is being used in carrying products into the town. We came here this morning and found the illegality of transporting adulterated petroleum product through this channel,” Stephen said.
